Saturday 28th January 2006 - here we are again another Saturday and another 60's spectacular, and another capacity crowd are waiting the arrival of two sensational 60's acts namely Union Gap and Vanity Fare.

First up we had Union Gap back by very very popular demand, this group though known for a number of big hits proved beyond a shadow of a doubt how versatile they really are. They had the audience up dancing from the very start of their act banging out hits from many of the well known groups from the 60’s and 70’s, including their own big hits Woman woman and Young Girl which really had us all clambering for more so much so that we have arranged to have them back in a years time.

As the bands changed over it was time for the disco with our very own DJ Terry Vickers who has been a big part of our dances now for the best part of the year and proving a great success, warming the night up with music before, during, and after the acts have finished.

Next up we had that amazing 60’s group Vanity Fare who many of us remember with hits such as Hitching A Ride, California Dreamin and Early in the Morning, which they served up with great relish. This proved to be as versatile as Union Gap though playing a different type of music which the audience loved and, like the previous act, we are sure to have these back at a later date.

Then it was time once again for our resident DJ to round off the evening as a very satisfied audience wound their weary way home. Thank you very much to all who attended. We hope to see you in May when we have that fabulous group Herman's Hermits accompanied by Midnight Dynamos and our resident DJ Terry Vickers.

Saturday May 2006 Tonight’s the night many of us have been waiting for, the chance to see Herman’s Hermit’s, the legendary band from the 60’s, this has proved to been one of our most popular gigs to put on with tickets selling out over six weeks ago, but first up on stage tonight was a group we’ve had before The Midnight Dynamos, these lads put on such a good show last time they were here we had no hesitation in getting them back tonight and they didn’t let us down, right from the off as they came on stage the crowd were waiting to take to the floor to dance after being warmed up by Terry our resident DJ, hit after hit was belted out to the audience though very young in terms of a 60’s night featuring 60’s groups they were not a disappointment, after an hour of belting out hits from the 60’s and 70’s they left the stage to a rapturous applause with a promise to come back later for another session.

While waiting for the groups to change over the crowd was well and truly entertained by our resident DJ once again and even though the entertainment was by discs it didn’t stop the enthusiastic dancing.

Then the lights dimmed the hush come over the room as the compare introduced Herman's Hermits and boy did the room start to rock, so much so, that for the first time in M.E.G’s history the noise inhibiters fitted to the hall blew and the mics cut out, not once but twice, this didn’t dampen the enthusiasm one little bit as hit after hit poured forth and all too soon it was time for there final song of the evening which was one of their biggest hits Silhouettes, but not to disappoint their audience the boys retired to the lounge where they signed autographs and sold many cds.

Once again a quick change over and back on stage came Midnight Dynamos for another stint, sadly to be their last under their present style as from now on they are to become a tribute band playing The Everley Brothers music, so all we can say to them is thanks for the memories and best of luck for the future.

And to round off the evening with our resident DJ once again Terry Vickers what a fantastic night worth the waiting for.

Saturday 28th October. On tonight’s bill we had 2 very good groups from the 60’s one that we had before who promised they’d come back for us The Fourmost and a new one to M.E.G namely Steve Wright’s Easybeats and of course our resident DJ Terry Vickers.

First up on tonight’s show after the audience had been warmed up by Terry was Steve Wright’s Easybeats, this group started of with some fairly heavy numbers before settling down into a steady string of 60’s and 70’s music, though slow to rise to the magic, the audience when they got hooked into the evening, soon made the room vibrate with continual dancing, their enthusiasm soon rubbed of on the group who responded and the evening had really kicked off, and with the new lighting on the stage what a fantastic setting it was, such was the euphoria in the room that an hour had gone by before we even realised it and it was time the Easybeats to finish their stint to rapturous applause.

Once again it was time for a resident DJ to keep the audience warm and the enthusiasm running and what a good job he does for us by playing many of the hits that a lot of us had almost forgotten about but he soon dragged them back to our memories.

Oh nostalgia, nostalgia, nostalgia, as we were taken back to the Liverpool beat as The Fourmost took to the stage singing and playing many many songs and tunes written by the legendary Lennon and Mccartney who wrote many songs for The Fourmost some where big hits and some not so big maybe not in this country but certainly in Europe, touched with a little bit of that famous Liverpool sense of humour the crowd were once again in raptures as the dance floor was soon again continually crowded, even M.E.G’s legendary treasurer John burst into a sweat as he burned up some space on the dance floor, not a pretty sight but one worth seeing, maybe just maybe we will get to see it again when we have another group as popular as The Fourmost, but all to soon like all good things they must come to an end and the time fast arrived for The Fourmost to depart from the stage but not before we had a big encore from the boys.

The evening was rounded of once again by our resident DJ Terry, and I would just like to take this opportunity to say a big thanks to Terry, I normally take the time to extol the virtues of the groups but little gets said about the fantastic job that Terry does for us so this time its Terry’s turn, we have now been using Terry for over a year and what a fantastic job he has done for us, we have now been able to keep the music flowing from 7 till midnight and beyond without a break in between and this have proved very very popular with the audience, so thanks Terry for all your sterling work.
See you in January 07 when we will have Union Gap and The Dakotas.
